Ecovillage Design Education
(EDE) is a complete sustainability training
program based on the international . It was offered for the first time in the United States in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2007-2008.
As an advanced training course, EDE
empowers citizens and communities to take the lead on sustainability in all its aspects.
The course is designed for:

- Permaculturists/horticulturists

- Community leaders
- Government officials
- Religious organizations
- Community and regional planners
- Peace activists
… and everyone else interested in sustaining our planet.

The course was presented at the University of New Mexico
, with field trips and hands on projects at various sites, communities and ecovillages around the city and state for the last two days of each Dimension.
Each of the was covered in a 10-day program consisting of five weekday evenings and two full-day weekends. The EDE
training presented viable models for both urban and rural environments.
